Editorial standards

How this is produced, and every conflict declared.

This page exists because the value of research is a function of how it was produced. A number without a provenance is not a number, it is a claim.

How figures are sourced

Primary sources first. Where an official body publishes a figure, that is the source used. The daily yield curve comes from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Macro indicators come from the World Bank. UK house prices come from HM Land Registry. Dubai transaction data comes from the Dubai Land Department.

Every figure carries its own timestamp and its own named provider. Not one blanket date at the bottom of a page. Each row on the market data page shows when that specific figure was captured and who published it, with a link.

Delayed and indicative data is labelled as such. Nothing on this site is a real time feed and nothing pretends to be.

Proprietary index levels are not republished. Redistributing S and P 500, FTSE 100 or DAX index levels requires a licence from the index provider. This site does not hold one, so where an equity market is shown it is shown as an exchange traded fund price, which is exchange data, not index intellectual property.

Where a source fails, the last good value is kept and flagged, never blanked and never quietly replaced with an estimate. Stale rows are dimmed and marked on the data page, and the failure is recorded in the automation status table on the same page.

How the daily brief is produced

The brief is drafted by an automated system, from the figures already published on the market data page plus headline feeds from named outlets, and it is constrained in three ways that matter.

  1. It may only use figures supplied to it. The system is explicitly forbidden from recalling, estimating or inventing a number. If a figure is not in the data table, it does not appear in the brief.
  2. It may not give advice. No recommendations, no price targets, no forecasts stated as fact. It explains mechanisms and trade-offs.
  3. Every item names its sources, and those source links appear under the item.

This is disclosed on every issue. Automated drafting is a production method, not a reason to lower the standard of what gets published, and if the system produces something wrong, the correction is handled exactly as below.

Corrections

Typographical errors are corrected silently. Fixing a misspelling is maintenance, not news.

Factual errors are corrected at the top of the next brief and annotated on the original page. The original wording is not deleted. If a figure was wrong, the page says what it said, what it should have said, and when it was fixed.

Every correction is collected in one place. The Record carries all of them, alongside every forward-looking call this site has made and how each one turned out. Calls that can be reduced to a number are scored against the published data by a script rather than by anyone here, and a call that matures without being scored is listed there as overdue rather than removed.

If you find an error, say so. Corrections improve the site and being right matters more than looking right.

Commercial relationships

The author works in Dubai real estate brokerage. Soliman Hossam Eldin is Head of Sales and Marketing at OneLink Properties, a Dubai brokerage. That means he has a commercial interest in Dubai property transactions, and readers should weigh property content on this site with that in mind.

This disclosure appears on every property page, not only here.

No developer, brokerage or fund pays for coverage on this site. There is no sponsored content, no paid placement, and no arrangement under which a project receives favourable treatment. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the page in question and in this section, before publication.

Where an area, project or asset is discussed, the discussion is the framework applied to it, not a recommendation to buy it.

What this site is not

It is not regulated financial advice. It publishes educational research and general information. It has no knowledge of any individual reader's circumstances, tax position, liabilities or risk tolerance, and general information cannot become personal advice by being read carefully.

Property and securities can fall in value. Past performance does not predict future returns. Always take regulated professional advice before acting.
